In uncertain times, or even in times when everything seems calm and peaceful most people don’t think about underground survival shelters but there is always the chance that some type of long term catastrophe could occur. Turning the basement into a living space for storm shelter. We tucked into the crawlspace, which has toys for entertainment and we threw carpets in. Also, several shelfs were there, containing 1 sleeping bag, at least 4 big comforters. Also, there was a mattress stored there. The ultimate storm shelter! This partially-buried structure can be found near Dean Grange Farm just to the west of the Bramhope Tunnel’s south portal. I don’t know what it was used for or why it was dug into the ground (the lay of the land outside is roughly level with the top of the door frame). There are several alcoves and shelves built into the inner walls. I doubt it was a permanent dwelling as it appears to have once served a function for the nearby farmhouse. An old air raid shelter, perhaps?

the underground labyrinth was to much and Madness overtook our kindly forest dwelling friend, driving him to self destructive ends. Luckily tragedy was averted.

Hot In The City

What the heck does that mean? Hmm…it was a hot summer day today and I had to work. At station Heerbrugg there is a huge construction site of dwelling and business houses. I had just a break and thought that it would be surely cool in the underground of this construction site. So I went on a exploration tour. This picture accrued at the connecting door to the old department store MANOR which already has relocated to the new building. It was there still a second doll but not enough space to take both in the picture. I hope the workers are not angry with me that I now publish their little fun. Switzerland, June 22, 2008.
