Question by David S: Cost of lifting a structrually sound house to add basement/living space?
The house is sound as is the foundation. We have about a 31/2′-4′ crawl space and would like to lift the house and build up the foundation to make the crawl space a true basement/living space. The house is about 980sq ft (25′x40′) stick built with attached garage (not included in size). The only service we have is water from well(flexible pipe), underground power and unused underground phone lines. I think we will need to dig a little of the crawl space out to increase the height but not sure. We live in western South Dakota on a flat lot with good solid soil. If anyone can give me a ball park cost range it would be appreciated.
Also links to what all is involved/needed to be done would be great.
