Question by Neil A.: Anyone know what this house is?
Ok, I’m not sure whether I saw this house on Chive.com or I-Am-Bored, but I can remember the house to a certain point:

The house was, I believe, located somewhere in Tennesee (or Texas?). From the outside, it’s looks like a completely normal house. However, just recently it was raided by the police because of what I believe was drug possession. After a more thorough search of the house, the police found a hidden door, which leads down to numerous rooms. As they progressed further in this area, they discovered that these rooms, located underground, was being used for marijuana production, I believe. The marijuana plants were just huge and practically everywhere. And then the hidden room’s exit is underneath a fake rock located in the backyard.

I would really appreciate it if anyone can send me a link on pictures of this house accompanied with pictures of the hidden room (along with it’s address). And just to clear things up, I do not want the drugs in the house. Instead, I’d like to BUY that house. I mean, come on: A hidden door leading to a secret area underground? Screw marijuana production, I’m making that my own personal Batcave!

Or, if you guys don’t know what I’m talking about, I’d really appreciate it if you’d send me some links leading to houses that display the features I described above.

Question by Me: What was that fiction book about the kids living underground??
Maybe it wasn’t ‘only’ kids, but it was an intricate society in the sewage system of New York or something like that. They wore their watches around their ankles because “time is of little importance”. Then something happened and their way of living was being threatened. I don’t really remember a lot of details, but it was a great book that i read in middle school.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Question by duck: How can I build a metal shop on top of a underground house.?
The house could be beside the shop with the front door of the house in the shop.

So the metal shop is going to be above ground and the house (living area, I presume) is underground. The front door of the house in the shop…that implies a doorway leading to the stairway that takes you downstairs to the underground house. It’s like building a house above ground, turning it into a shop, and converting the basement into the “house” or general living area.

There was a TV series with little creatures living underground, I think it was in a hole in the kitchen. There was a dog sitting outside from whom they were afraid.
Those creatures built things and had their own world in that hole.
It wasn’t animated but rather filmed and they were puppets.

Question by nellieh: Holy Wet! House For Sale, Basement Flooded! What to do?
I’ve been trying to market my home for a few months now, asking approximately 55K less than I purchased it for 2 years ago. Offers so far have been too low to accept.
Yesterday’s rains resulted in seeping along the floors on 3 sides of the basement, approximately 3feet out from the walls. It’s not just damp, it is standing water. I’ve shop-vacced up about 25 gallons, and there’s probably that much more that has seeped up again. (the house was sold to me with this problem, but not revealed, as in NYState one does not have to disclose) Estimates to ‘fix’ problem are around $ 10,000 or more. (jack-hammering the perimeter and laying down gravel, drains, and underground sump-pumps….massive job!)
If I undertake this job, which would require me to take monies out of my very small tax-sheltered annuity) I’ve been told it would not enhance the value (price) of the home. However, if I don’t fix it, the house is virtually un-saleable.
What in heck do I do? Fix it? Don’t fix it?
